The Battle for the Bones between UAB and Memphis will resume on October 21 at Protective Stadium. That piece of news is one of the highlights of the first schedule that UAB head football coach Trent Dilfer will face as the Blazers transition into the American Athletic Conference.
Overall, the Blazers will face three conference champions (Tulane, Georgia, UTSA), a national champion (Georgia), a Cotton Bowl champion (Tulane) and play at Navy on Veterans Day.
The opener against visiting North Carolina A&T is on a Thursday. It’s also possible the regular season-ending game at North Texas will be a non-Saturday game. Four AAC games will be played that week, and the conference will choose two of them to take place on Friday, which is the day after Thanksgiving. That decision will be made in early October.
