A former Crenshaw County Jail administrator is facing 35 years behind bars in connection to claims that he used unreasonable force on an inmate and then lied to investigators.
Christian Alexander Porter, 33, is charged with assaulting a handcuffed, pre-trial inmate. The incident allegedly happened on Oct. 12, 2021. The federal civil rights violation carries a sentence of up to 10 years.
Porter is also charged with falsifying a use of force report, which carries up to 20 years in prison.
The indictment states that Porter also made false statements to state and federal investigators, a charge that could carry up to five years in prison.
The FBI Mobile Field Office investigated the case.
