It’s a sell-out every year, so you better buy your tickets now. It’s the annual valentine dinner/dance on (guess when?) Valentine’s Day.

The music and dancing are by the Mobile Big Band, a throwback to the 1930s and 1940s.

Details and tickets can be found here.

This is a time of the year for multiple attractions in southern Alabama.

The nation's top college all-star game, the Reese's Senior Bowl, is in Mobile on Saturday, February 1.

Mardi Gras balls and parades go on for weeks, starting in mid-January and ending on Fat Tuesday, March 4. Alabama hosts America's original Mardi Gras, which was started in Mobile.

And we have Valentine's Day.

Mobile Big Band Society, a 501(c)(3) organization, was formed to continue performing and preserving the music of the Big Band era. Regional band members play for the sheer joy of getting together to make the music—for themselves, for their "mature" fans, who have heard and loved it all their lives, and for the younger set, many just discovering the melodies, harmonies, and romantic lyrics of the Great American Song Book.

See you at the Battleship! I will be the guy dressed in Valentine's red.

Continuing the performance and preservation of Big Band Music
