The Valley Police Department is investigating what appears to be an accidental shooting.
According to WTVM, authorities responded to the scene on Calgary Crescent at 2 a.m. They found a two-year-old boy with a single gunshot wound. He was flown to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe the child located a handgun in the middle of the night and accidentally shot himself. The child’s mother and another young child were asleep.
No charges have been filed.
