A Vestavia Hills church group that was stuck in Israel following the deadly terrorist attack by Hamas last weekend arrived back safely in Alabama on Tuesday.
The Palestinian militant group’s attack included thousands of rockets fired into Israeli territory, killing at least 300 Israelis and wounding over 1,500 others.
George Wright, Senior Pastor at Shades Mountain Baptist Church, said during his sermon on Sunday that 11 members of the church in Vestavia Hills were in Israel.
Wright said on social media that the group arrived safely in Alabama on Tuesday.
“On Tuesday, October 10th, the missions team from Shades Mountain, who had been in Israel when the war broke out, returned home safely. We give thanks to God for His care and protection during this time and are grateful for the many people who prayed for their safe return. We know that there are still many teams and individuals who still find themselves in harm’s way and we are praying for them as they try to find a safe way home,” Wright said. “Even as we celebrate the return of our team, our hearts are heavy from the acts of evil we have seen in recent days. We ask that you join us in praying for the protection and safety of the people of Israel.”
