The Tuscumbia Board of Education (BOE) responded Monday after a video showing a fight in the locker room between two football players circulated on social media.
The school system said it is aware of the video and that the issue has already been addressed with the students.
"Due to student privacy laws, the District cannot provide detailed information about this incident," the BOE stated. "However, the District can confirm that the students involved received consequences consistent with the District's Code of Conduct and Board Policy."
The school system also asked people to refrain from sharing the video.
"The District wants to stress that this video depicts students, and that these students have parents and families," the statement continued. "While we cannot stop anyone from doing so, we encourage those with the video to refrain from sharing it and posting it on social media. Continuing to share and post this video is not in the best interest of those students and their families."
Deshler High School has been under the national spotlight following a controversial incident that left August Borden seriously injured. Protests have taken place at the school with people asking for justice for Borden.
