During an interview with OANN's "Weekly Briefing," U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) reiterated his reasoning for his push to impose a Sharia law ban in the United States.
Tuberville, prompted by the growth of radical Islam in Europe, warned that an influx of Muslims into the country would result in a significant cultural change, which he said could come in the form of Sharia law.
"It's been good back in my state, as I said earlier, we've already banned Sharia, and if you're going to go by Sharia law, you're out. I mean, you're not in this country. You don't deserve to be here because we can't go by the Constitution one set and another set, Sharia. We can't do that. It doesn't work, and so the other one is, we need to quit taking people in here that we know are not going to go by our culture. You know, Joe Biden and Barack Obama let hundreds of thousands come in from some of these countries. And they've gone to different communities, and they couldn't care less about assimilating with Americans. They run their own culture, they run, they do things their way, and again they have their own police force, and they don't go by laws. That doesn't work. It'd be like in a football team where coach you got half the team going one way, half the other they believe in different things. You can't win that way. We're about winning."
"First of all, everybody needs to recognize that this country was built on Christian values. The one thing about radical Islam is they hate Christians. If you look over in Africa right now, they're losing 35 people, Christians, a day that are being murdered. They're killing them right and left. There were 7,000 murdered last year. You don't see the media talking about that. And over the last 10-12 years, all of these immigrants have gone all over Europe and just taken over France, Italy, the UK. That's been a process. Now they have all mayors from these from these Islamic countries, and so they're trying to change into Sharia law."
"Well, they've jumped the Atlantic Ocean, and here they are, here. Europe didn't wake up, but I'm telling the people: Wake up, America. They're here, they're on our shores, and they're trying to change our way of life. They're trying to change our culture, and if they want to do that, they need to go home because we're not going to allow it. And so we have to stand up now as American citizens and decide — do we want our country the way it's been the last 250 years, or do we want to give it to an ideology or a cult that we do not believe in?"
