U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Birmingham) is once again going on an angry social media attack against President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
Trump's executive order requiring proof of citizenship to vote is an attempt to "erode voting rights and give access to the American people's personal voter information. " The order enforces the citizenship requirement for federal elections and requires government-issued proof of citizenship to register to vote.

Sewell called the order to protect voter integrity a "power grab intended to disenfranchise and intimidate voters."
"Trump is once again showing that he has no regard for the U.S. Constitution, the rule of law, or the fundamental principle that all Americans, regardless of their race, creed, or color, have a right to have their voice heard at the ballot box," she stated on Musk-owned X.
"To be clear, this executive order has nothing to do with protecting the integrity of our elections," she continued. "These are the actions of a wannabe dictator, and we will not stand by as he attempts to dismantle the core principles of our democracy!"

Sewell said she will continue to fight to pass HR-14, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, a bill named after Lewis, who was beaten on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma. The bill to "enhance voter rights" addresses racial discrimination and language barriers.
Sewell stated it is a way to protect the American people from their president and "extremists."
