The four candidates for mayor of Mobile went mic-to-mic on Thursday.

Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5 broadcast a debate that was also heard live at the annual Business Expo at the Arthur Outlaw Convention Center.

The radio debate was hosted by the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and moderated by NewsTalk's Sean Sullivan, who hosts "Midday Mobile," a weekday radio show from noon to 2 p.m.

The election is on August 26, so the radio debate was held exactly 12 days before election day.

The race is for an open seat, as incumbent Mayor Sandys Stimpson is not seeking a fourth term.

The candidates are former police chief Paul Prine, Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson, former District Judge Spiro Cheriogotis and State Rep. Barbara Drummond (D-Mobile).

After the four candidates each gave a brief introduction, a special guest began the questioning. It was former U.S. Rep. Bradley Byrne, now the CEO of the Mobile Chamber. Quite naturally, he asked the candidates if they would offer continued support for the partnership between the chamber and the city on economic development. Not surprisingly, all four candidates would.

Sullivan then took over questioning and rotated the order of candidate answers.
