It has been 20 years since the world saw the now infamous sketch of a leprechaun that dozens reported seeing in a tree near Mobile.
NBC 15 showed audiences the amateur sketch and spoke with people in the Crichton neighborhood who said that when they shone a light on the leprechaun, it disappeared. People from all over flocked to get a glimpse of the elusive leprechaun.
The leprechaun was never caught on camera, but he brought much joy to the Mobile community and beyond.
The report quickly went viral and has been revisited each year on St. Patrick’s Day. Millions have viewed the news story, which some say is a pot of internet gold.
