HUNTSVILLE — Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall spoke on Saturday morning to the Madison County Republican Men's Club at their monthly meeting.
During his remarks, Marshall, who is running for the U.S. Senate, touted key legal victories achieved while serving as the state's top law enforcement official.
"We saw the Democrats want to be able to use the census, to be able to leverage the reinforcement count, to be able to save the sanctuary cities and Sanctuary states," explained Marshall. "They want to disproportionately impact the political dynamic by being able to count those who are here unlawfully for purposes, determining their representation in Congress. We stood up, and we finally received an order from the Trump administration to agree with us to make sure that Alabama has seven congressional members."
Marshall referenced his fight against transgender treatments and procedures on children.
"We made sure the boys weren't competing against girls in our sports. We made sure the boys weren't going into girls' locker rooms, and because of the fight during reform, we made sure that we weren't putting testosterone shots in the legs of girls and puberty blockers in boys and, God forbid, scalpels on the bodies of kids," said Marshall.
A legal action led by Marshall before the U.S. Supreme Court won the ability for 26 states to protect minors from the dangers of transgender treatments and procedures.
"It is going on in Europe. It was going on across this country. It was going on at the University of Alabama, and because of our willingness to fight a fight when no one else was willing to do it, not only did we get an order from the Supreme Court to make sure that 26 states were able to protect kids in the way they protect them, but we also are enabled to make sure that we expose the medical, legal and ethical fraud that was causing harm to children across our state."
Marshall added, "We stood for those kids. We stood for you."
