On Monday, Gov. Kay Ivey released a video to honor fallen service members in honor of Memorial Day.
In the tribute, Ivey, Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Jeff Newton and Alabama National Guard Adjutant Gen. David Pritchett highlight the significance of the holiday and thank those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and their families.
"Memorial Day is a time we pause as a nation, a day we set aside to honor the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price for our freedom," Ivey opens the video.
"Their sacrifice is a debt we can never repay," she adds. "But we can and must honor it — not just today, but every day."
The trio conclude the video by saying all at once, "We will never forget."
