No. 24 Alabama baseball bounced back after dropping three straight SEC series with a series sweep of Vanderbilt on Saturday.
With the weekend sweep, Alabama improves to 32-16 and 13-11 in the SEC.
Here is a recap of the weekend series.
Game One:
In a dramatic Thursday comeback, No. 24 Alabama baseball overcame a late three-run hole to edge out Vanderbilt 5-4. The Crimson Tide comeback win came via a walk-off solo home run from John Lemm.
John Lemm headlined the Alabama offense as the only player to record a multi-hit game, pairing a double with his walk-off home run. Eric Hines went 1-for-4 but made his single hit count with a massive three-run homer in the sixth inning to tie the score.
Tyler Fay grinded through 6.1 innings in his 12th start of the season, keeping Alabama competitive despite giving up three home runs. The righty surrendered four runs on eight hits but fanned seven batters while yielding only a single walk.
Matthew Heiberger took over in relief and was nearly untouchable. He earned his third win with 2.2 scoreless innings, holding the Vanderbilt offense to just one hit and one walk.
Game Two:
Zane Adams delivered a gem on the mound to lead No. 24 Alabama to a 5-0 shutout over Vanderbilt. With the Friday night win, the Crimson Tide officially clinched the series against the Commodores.
The Commodores had no answer for Alabama’s left-handed duo. Adams earned his fifth win by pitching six scoreless frames of eight-hit ball, followed by Ashton Crowther, who slammed the door with three nearly perfect innings to earn the save.
The Crimson Tide did all their damage early, plating all five runs in the first three innings. The surge began with a three-run first inning headlined by back-to-back home runs. Eric Hines belted a two-run homer into the visitor's bullpen for his second longball in as many days, followed immediately by a solo shot from Thursday’s hero, John Lemm.
Game Three:
No. 24 Alabama jumped on Vanderbilt early on its way to an 8-5 victory on Saturday to complete the series sweep.
Myles Upchurch took to the mound for the Crimson Tide, grinding out 5.1 innings, allowing four hits and four runs to earn his sixth win of the season. Hagan Banks entered the game in the ninth and shut down the Vanderbilt hitters to earn his sixth save of the year.
Alabama put across five runs in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by a three-run home run from Jason Torres. Brennan Holt put together a 2-for-4 day with an RBI double in the fourth and a solo home run in the eighth.
Alabama will travel to Troy for the final midweek matchup of the season, Tuesday, May 5, at 6 p.m.
