Alabama baseball completed the weekend sweep over Rhode Island with a win on Friday and two wins in Saturday’s doubleheader.

The Crimson Tide outscored the Rams 38-10 over the weekend, including two of the three games ending by way of the 10-run mercy rule. Alabama moves to 5-1 on the season.

Here’s a recap of the weekend series.

Game One:

Alabama bats explode on Friday to take the season opener 19-4 against Rhode Island. The game ended after seven innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Justin Lebron put on a clinic at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs, five RBI, a walk, and three runs scored. Brady Neal was equally impressive at the dish, putting up a perfect 3-for-3 line that included a homer, a double, a sacrifice fly, and three runs. Justin Osterhouse's first hit for the Crimson Tide was a memorable one, launching a two-run bomb during a massive eight-run second inning. He added an RBI single in the third to cap off a stellar 2-for-4 night.

Tyler Fay secured his first victory of the spring, putting in a solid five innings where he gave up three runs on three hits, walked a pair, and struck out five. Connor Lehman exceled in his first appearance of 2026, striking out three batters in a dominant one-inning outing that yielded just one hit. Owen Sarna’s debut in the seventh inning was a little shaky, giving up a run and two hits before recording the game’s final three outs.

Game Two:

The first day of Saturday’s double header wasn’t as easy as Friday’s win for Alabama. The Crimson Tide had to grind out an 8-5 win against Rhode Island using solid pitching and timely hitting.

Sophomore southpaw Zane Adams continued his consistent start to the year, picking up his second win in as many starts. Adams tossed six innings, scattering five hits and allowing just two earned runs. The accuracy and command of Adams continued as he struck out six and has not walked a single batter through 11 total innings of work this season.

Every time the Rhode Island offense scored, the Alabama offense had an answer. Luke Vaughn erased a one-run deficit in the fourth inning with a two-run blast that put the Crimson Tide on top. Bryce Fowler kept the fourth inning scoring going with a two-run single to extend the lead. After a seventh-inning rally that pulled Rhode Island within one run, John Lemm crushed his first home run of the season to give the bullpen some insurance to close the game out.

Game Three:

Alabama completed the sweep, winning the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader 11-1. The game ended after eight innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Freshman Myles Upchurch impressed again, grabbing his second win in as many starts. Upchurch pitched five innings of shutout ball, scattering three hits and striking out seven. The Alabama bullpen finished the final three innings to seal the victory, allowing just one run on one hit.

The Crimson Tide offense plated 11 runs on nine hits, led by Peyton Steele’s 2-for-5 night, driving in three. Justin Lebron and Jason Torres both added solo home runs on Saturday night as the bats continued to stay hot all weekend long.

Alabama will travel to Southern Mississippi for a midweek matchup on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
