Alabama baseball improved to a perfect 8-0 on the season, winning a trio of games over the weekend to win the Jax College Weekend Baseball Classic.

The weekend was highlighted by two strong pitching performances and finished with a high scoring comeback victory in the final game of the tournament.

Here is a recap of the weekend’s round robin tournament.

Game One vs Coastal Carolina:

A strong pitching performance and a big fifth inning led to a 9-2 win for Alabama over Coastal Carolina in the first game of the Jax College Weekend Baseball Classic.

Alabama took a slim 2-1 lead going into the fifth inning. A five-run explosive fifth inning for the Crimson Tide blew the game wide open and out of reach. Zane Adams delivered a solid start for Alabama, giving up just one run in his 4.1 innings of work, striking out six and allowing just two hits.

Game Two vs No. 12 NC State:

Alabama relied on its pitching staff to defeat No. 12 NC State 4-0 in the second game of the round robin tournament.

Will Plattner doubled in the game’s first run in the bottom of the second inning, and that was all the offense Alabama would need. Brennen Norton crushed his second home run of the season in the fourth inning, extending the Crimson Tide lead to 2-0.

Riley Quick picked up his second win of the season in as many starts, allowing just one hit and striking out four in four innings of work. The Alabama pitching staff struck out eight and combined for a three-hit shutout.

Game Three vs Ohio State:

Alabama’s perfect record looked like it would receive its first blemish of the season after going down 10-0 in the top of the fourth. The Crimson Tide kept chipping away at the deficit and scored 12 unanswered runs to complete the 12-10 comeback victory.

Justin Lebron and Will Hodo led the Alabama offense, as they were responsible for driving in nine of the Crimson Tide’s 12 runs. Lebron drove in six with a pair of three-run home runs while Hodo delivered the knockout blow in the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off three-run home run.

Alabama will host Jacksonville State in a midweek matchup on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The game can be streamed on SEC Network+.
