No. 15 Alabama baseball avoided the sweep by taking the series finale against No. 9 LSU.
The Crimson Tide move to 31-10 overall and 9-9 in SEC play.
Here is a recap of the weekend series.
Game One:
Despite hitting four home runs on Thursday, Alabama dropped the opening game against LSU. Alabama took a 5-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, but LSU responded by scoring 10 of the game’s next 11 runs to secure an 11-6 victory over the Crimson Tide.
Kade Snell finished the day 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI to lead the Alabama offense. Richie Bonomolo, Jr. and Brady Neal also hit solo shots for the Crimson Tide.
Tyler Fay got his second start of the season and went three innings giving up just four hits and one run. JT Blackwood was handed the loss, coming in the seventh inning and only recording one out before giving up three runs on three hits.
Game Two:
Alabama made a late surge in the ninth and brought the tying run to the plate, but the comeback fell short as the Crimson Tide dropped Friday’s game 4-3 to drop the series.
Kade Snell stayed hot at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Bryce Fowler also went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for the Crimson Tide offense.
Riley Quick suffered his second loss of the season, giving up four runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings of work. Braylon Myers stopped the bleeding, coming out of the bullpen to deliver 3.2 innings of shutout ball while recording six strikeouts.
Game Three:
An early lead from a three-run home run in the third helped Alabama take the series finale 7-4 and avoid the sweep from LSU.
Richie Bonomolo, Jr. finished the day 2-for-3 with three walks and the three-run home run in the third that gave the Crimson Tide the early lead.
Zane Adams won his fifth game of the season, throwing five innings and allowing just one run on four hits. Carson Ozmer pitched the final two innings for the Crimson Tide, allowing just one run and striking out five to pick up his 13th save of the season.
Alabama will travel to Samford for a midweek matchup on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
