No. 18 Alabama baseball took two of three games over No. 15 Ole Miss over the weekend in the final series of the regular season.

With the weekend series win, Alabama finishes the regular season 37-18 and 18-12 in the SEC.

Here is a recap of the weekend series.

Game One:

No. 18 Alabama baseball kicked off its series against No. 15 Ole Miss with a 5-4 win, thanks to a dominant tag-team pitching performance from Tyler Fay and Matthew Heiberger.

Fay turned in another masterful performance, stifling the opposition over seven innings. The right-hander surrendered just three earned runs on seven hits and a lone walk while racking up 11 strikeouts. Left-hander Matthew Heiberger then shut the door to earn his fourth save of the year and his second in two games while striking out five. Over his two innings of work, Heiberger allowed just one run on two hits and a walk.

At the plate, Bryce Fowler set the tone for the offense from the leadoff spot, turning in a 3-for-5 performance with an RBI and two runs scored. Justin Lebron added to the offense, going 1-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases, and three RBIs. Lebron put Alabama on the board early with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to answer an early Ole Miss run, and later broke a 3-3 deadlock in the seventh with an RBI fielder’s choice.

 Game Two:

No. 18 Alabama baseball ran into a buzzsaw on Friday, as No. 15 Ole Miss starter Taylor Rabe completely baffled the Crimson Tide bats in a 9-0 shutout victory for the Rebels.

Rabe completely stifled the Crimson Tide offense, allowing just two hits on the night. Alabama’s bats were held without a hit until the sixth inning, when Luke Vaughn broke up the no-hitter with a single. Jason Torres added the only other base hit for the Tide, who managed to put just four other runners aboard via two walks and two hit-by-pitches.

Left-hander Zane Adams took his fourth loss of the season in his 14th start. Across five innings of work, Adams allowed five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven. After surrendering an early run in the first, he settled down to hold the Rebels scoreless over the next three frames before a pair of fifth-inning home runs tagged him for four runs.

Game Three:

No.18 Alabama baseball used another tag-team pitching performance to secure the series win with a 6-2 win over No. 15 Ole Miss.

Myles Upchurch got the start for the Crimson Tide and set the tone, keeping the Ole Miss hitters at bay for seven innings. Upchurch recorded his eighth win of the season, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six. Ashton Crowther came in relief and shut down the Rebels for the final two innings, not allowing a run or a hit.

Bryce Fowler had a good day at the plate for Alabama, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jason Torres went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Eric Hines provided an insurance run in the fifth by way of a solo home run, his only hit of the afternoon.

Alabama will travel to Hoover as the No. 4 seed in the SEC Tournament. The Crimson Tide will play in the final game on Thursday, May 21.
