In comments given to Fox News Digital late last week, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) reiterated his long-standing support for President Donald Trump's handling of Iran, suggesting that the administration's actions were successful.

"Two things — they never can have nuclear weapons, and we don't have troops on the ground," he said. "We've made a lot of progress."

Alabama's senior U.S. Senator rejected that under a new proposed deal between the United States and Iran, potentially lifting sanctions would give the Iranians the ability to continue funding their proxies.

"They can make up all that they want, but we're a lot better off now than we were three months ago," Tuberville added. "They didn't want any part of this. Thank goodness for Donald Trump."
