The City of Homewood will see significant changes to its city council this election cycle, as the number of council members is reduced from 11 to four. Each will be designated to represent one of four wards.

There will also be a mayor elected city-wide who will serve as council president, creating a five-person body.

With qualifying now closed, three of the four council seats and the mayor's race are set to be head-to-head matches. The race for Ward 3 has four candidates.

Only two incumbents are seeking reelection under the newly redrawn wards: Nick Sims, who is seeking to return to the council, will be shifted from Ward 3 to the new Ward 2 and will face JJ Thomas.

While running for mayor, Current Councilwoman Jennifer Andress is facing Robin Litaker, who most recently ran for U.S. Congress.
