The Panama City Beach Police Department is investigating an incident involving the wife of a Geneva County commissioner.

WTVY reported April Wilks is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and improper exhibition of a firearm or dangerous weapon.

Wilks, the wife of commissioner Bart Wilks, is accused of pulling a gun on another woman and her two children during a youth softball tournament.

The victim told police an earlier disagreement led to the interaction in the parking lot of the sports complex.

Witnesses told WMBB they saw Wilks driving her vehicle and heard her saying, "Isn't that the lady who said I hope they have backup?" before she brandished her weapon and said, "I can back it up."

Bart Wilks was with his wife and child at the park. He told WTVY his wife left to get food when the incident occurred.

Wilks is considered innocent until proven guilty.
