The wife of Lee County Sheriff-elect Cam Hunt was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, according to Opelika Police.

Aggie Kalyn Hunt, 36, the wife of Cam Hunt, who recently won the May 19 election, was arrested for third-degree domestic violence on Memorial Day.

She was booked into the Lee County Jail at midnight. Her bond was set at $1,000.

No details on the arrest were publicly available Monday.

Cam Hunt released the following statement:

“This is a private family matter involving people I love and care about deeply. Out of respect for everyone involved, I will not be discussing details publicly or engaging in speculation online. I understand there will naturally be commentary and rumors, but I would ask people to remember that my family deserves privacy, grace, and dignity during a difficult moment.

I also want people to know that I’m fine, the kids are fine, and Kalyn is fine. While this situation has unfortunately become public, it is still a deeply personal matter for our family. My focus right now is on my children, my family, and moving forward appropriately. I appreciate the concern, prayers, and support from those who have reached out.”
