The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) Law Enforcement Services is investigating after a vehicle crashed through a gate at Staton Correctional Facility over the weekend.

The incident happened on Saturday. The vehicle fled the scene but left behind a package containing contraband.

ADOC deployed K-9 officers and the vehicle was eventually located in Prattville. Two females were detained.

Heather Young, 39, of Hair Hill, Ky. was identified as the suspect. She was arrested for first and second-degree charges of promoting prison contraband, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal mischief.

Young is being held in the Elmore County Jail on a $45,000 bond. She is considered innocent until proven guilty.

ADOC confirmed more charges could be filed.
