The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a woman was struck by an Amtrak train Monday evening.
The woman, who has not been identified, was sitting on the tracks at Irvington Bayou-la-Batre near Highway 90 when she was struck and killed.
Major Crimes deputies responded to investigate.
According to an Amtrak alert, the Mardi Gras Service was delayed by 2.5 hours in New Orleans. The train resumed travel at 7:41 p.m.
