Birmingham Mayor Woodfin won reelection with 74% of the vote, spending a staggering $1,372,886.13 as of his latest campaign finance report. With 99% of the election results reported, his total votes were 24,559, equivalent to spending $55.90 per vote.

Jefferson County Commissioner Lashunda Scales, who entered the race in late May, came in a distant second with 15% of the vote. Scales spent $40,388.21 getting 4,781 votes.

State Rep. Juandalynn Givan (D-Birmingham) spent $122,427.80 to get only 4.5% of the vote (1,395 votes) at approximately $87.76 spent per vote.

Woodfin's election night speech focused on giving gratitude to his supporters, his family and his staff.

He addressed the residents of Birmingham, including those who didn't vote for him, which drew a negative response from the crowd. Still, he persisted, saying, "I work for you, and because I work for you, I want you to know I hear you and I see you."

“The work isn’t done,” Woodfin said. “The next chapter is about finishing what we started and pushing it further.”
