The Mobile Convention Center will host the World Championship Turkey Calling Contest June 12-13.
The nation’s top turkey callers will gather to show off their best calls. Contestants will be given turkey-calling situations to replicate using air and friction calls.
Mobile has been home to the championship since 1940. The first-ever contest was held at the Battle House Hotel. Fred Stimpson, the grandfather of former Mobile mayor Sandy Stimpson, won the championship that year.
Competitions begin at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
