It spans six states: Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan. It starts in Gadsden and ends in Addison, Michigan, 690 miles of yard sales.
The official name of the 39-year-old event is 127 Yard Sale.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for at the 127 Yard Sale, it just might not be available.
The 127 Yard Sale is an annual event that takes place on the first Thursday through Sunday in August. It draws hundreds of thousands of people (shoppers and vendors) each year.
The event began in 1987. Mike Walker envisioned it, then Fentress County Executive in Jamestown, Tenn.
Here is the official history from 127yardsale.com:
Fentress planned the event to encourage travelers to bypass interstate highways such as I-40 and I-75 in favor of scenic routes that would take them through rural communities and allow them to experience what the small towns and cities had to offer. With state parks, historical attractions, scenic drives, waterfalls, opportunities for hiking and biking, rivers and lakes for boating, train rides, horseback riding, fishing, bluegrass music, arts and crafts festivals, and more, this provided a great opportunity to bring more visitors to Tennessee and the 127 Yard Sale route. Visitors from across the country, as well as those who have traveled internationally to the sale, will enjoy both the yard sales and attractions along the 127 Yard Sale route.
In 2025, the 127 Yard Sale will be held from August 7 to 10 (Thursday to Sunday). This will be the 39th consecutive year it has taken place since it began in 1987. As hundreds of thousands of "yardsalers" and vendors converge on the 690-mile route from across the country, it may be the biggest yet. The World's Longest Yard Sale is also known to attract international interest, as tourists and media from abroad seek to experience an event that can only be found in the United States.
Only a handful of people make it the entire length of the yard sale trail. There are only four days, and the 690-mile route has numerous interesting stops.
Most vendors will set up individually in their front yards, business and church parking lots and town centers along the route. Others will set up together in “major vendor stops” with 25 or more vendors.

There are four major vendor stops in Alabama: one in Fort Payne, one in Collinsville and two in Gadsden.

When visiting 127YardSale.com, whether as a “yardsaler,” vendor, or rental space provider, you can find resources, including an interactive route map, a list of "Major Vendor Stops" (locations with 25 or more vendors grouped together), lodging, things to do, and much more.
There is an active community of social media followers as well, with the official Facebook page showing over 182,000 followers.
The same folks who like to pull into Buc-ee's like to go to the World’s Longest Yard Sale.
