
With absentee voting already underway for those eligible for the August 26 municipal elections, voting is now in progress. Some voters casting in-person absentee ballots will have already voted in some cities. Historically, municipal elections in Alabama have seen low turnout despite the high stakes involved.

Municipal election qualifying began June 10 and will end this Tuesday, June 24. While some candidates around the state began raising and spending money last year when the cycle opened up in late August, others will wait until this Tuesday to declare their intentions.
