
Kyle Rusk, an Asbury High School boys' basketball coach and math teacher, has been fired following an investigation into allegations of student grooming.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office has concluded its investigation into allegations of an “inappropriate relationship” between an Asbury High School coach and student, finding no cause for pursuing criminal charges. However, the Marshall County School District said the matter is still under internal investigation for ethical reasons.

Asbury High School principal Clay Webber is calling out Marshall County Schools leadership over what he claims was a “misleading” statement about an unnamed coach placed on leave over allegations of an “inappropriate” student relationship.

Marshall County Schools issued a statement Friday about the incident, saying an Asbury staff member overheard two students discussing the alleged relationship on November 17. The coach's name has yet to be released.

A Marshall County Schools employee at Asbury High School was arrested Monday. Leslie Rains, 28, of Albertville was arrested and charged with engaging in a sexual act with a student under the age of 19 — a class B Felony.
