After winning three straight elimination games to keep its season alive, No. 4 Auburn capped its regional comeback Monday night at Plainsman Park with an 8-3 win over Milwaukee, using a five-run sixth inning to punch its ticket to a second straight Super Regional.
Needing two wins to extend its season, No. 4 Auburn delivered on a long Sunday evening at Plainsman Park, defeating UCF 9-3 and Milwaukee 8-1.
Facing elimination, No. 4 overall seed Auburn appeared to be in control multiple times Saturday, but N.C. State repeatedly answered before the Tigers escaped with a 17-13 victory at Plainsman Park.
In its first regional appearance since 2010, Milwaukee tallied seven hits the first time through the order and 10 runs across the first four frames en route to a 13-8 upset win over No. 4 overall seed Auburn in the opening game of the Auburn Regional on Friday at Plainsman Park.
The fourth-ranked Tigers used strong pitching from starter Andreas Alvarez and 10 runs in two middle innings to surge past North Carolina State 11-1 in the Auburn Regional championship on Sunday night at Plainsman Park. The win marks Auburn’s fourth regional championship under head coach Butch Thompson’s tutelage.
After giving up four runs in the first three frames, No. 4 Auburn baseball settled in and rode the strong pitching of reliever Carson Myers en route to a 9-5 win over Central Connecticut State in the first round of the Auburn Regional at Plainsman Park.
