House passes voter registration overhaul despite Democrat protest — ‘This is a vast improvement from what we had’

House Democrats were in an especially combative mood on Tuesday, spending hours of debate time protesting the House calendar and a proposed bill changing the voter registration software used by Alabama’s state and local election officials.  

Brinyark defeats Cox in House District 16 runoff

The two Republican candidates were just 15 votes apart in the primary election, but Brinyark ended up with almost 200 more votes than Cox Tuesday with 1,706 ballots cast for him — or 52.75% — compared to Cox’s 1,528, according to Decision Desk.
