August 26 election will test 2021 legislation meant to improve municipal election process and participation

With absentee voting already underway for those eligible for the August 26 municipal elections, voting is now in progress. Some voters casting in-person absentee ballots will have already voted in some cities. Historically, municipal elections in Alabama have seen low turnout despite the high stakes involved.
