House Bill 123 (HB123), sponsored by State Rep. Barbara Drummond (D-Mobile), would make parents and guardians criminally liable if their children bring a gun to school, only if the firearm was not “reasonably secure.”
With the recent shooting at a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, still heavy on the hearts and minds of America, State Rep. Barbara Drummond (D-Mobile) is hoping her new bill will reduce the risk of a similar tragedy playing out in Alabama by placing much of the responsibility on parents.
For five years, Alabama has had a program in place that allows some school administrators to have guns on campus.
