The so-called Name Image Likeness (NIL) issue has plagued college athletics since the federal courts determined NCAA member colleges violated antitrust law by disallowing members from providing athletes with unlimited, in-kind educational benefits.
U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) told 1819 News and other reporters on Tuesday that he and his colleague U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) will propose legislation to govern name, image and likeness (NIL) deals for college athletes nationwide next month.
During an appearance on Paul Finebaum's nationally syndicated radio show, also simulcasted on the SEC Network, Sen. Tommy Tuberville responded to Finebaum's suggestion that he and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) were working on behalf of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban.
