
The second time was the charm for Northport mayor-elect Dale Phillips on Tuesday.

The Tuscaloosa By-Pass, which spans the Black Warrior River, connecting Tuscaloosa and Northport, serves over 4 million vehicles per day. The mile-long bridge was built in 1998 and it is owned by American Roads, the same company that owned the former Baldwin County Bridge Company in South Alabama.

There will be beachfront property available in Northport in the near future and some local residents aren’t too happy about it.

For 52 years, the Kentuck Arts Center has held its annual festival North of the Black Warrior River in Northport’s Kentuck Park. Now, it’s coming to Tuscaloosa, but not without a series of controversies.

Mark’s Mart is hard to describe, sort of a combination of an old-fashioned general store and a farmer’s market of locally-created sauces, spices, meats and assorted local fare.
