
The Alabama chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) recently celebrated the passage of three bills related to the state’s Board of Pardons and Paroles in the recently concluded legislative session, two of which had Republican sponsors.

One obscure but vital element of public safety in Alabama is our Parole Board, which has been harshly vilified by critics. We need to know the truth about the three-person board determining which felons are released early from prison.
