
It’s time to address the health care crisis in rural Alabama. Sending millions in higher insurance premiums to a few companies is not the answer.

We cannot prevent every tragedy. But we can build a system that gives every Alabamian – no matter where they live – the best possible chance when they dial 911.

Having served as county commissioner in one of the state’s larger counties, and a current commissioner in a smaller, struggling, Black Belt county, it is my belief that there is a fundamental misunderstanding of the SSUT system.

Alabama’s rural areas have their own unique challenges that must be met, tackled and resolved, and as leader of the Alabama Senate, I have spent much of my time bringing laser-like focus to accomplishing this mission.
