Embattled head football coach Rush Propst announced his resignation from Pell City High School on Friday.

The Pell City School Board attempted but ultimately failed to remove Pell City High School football coach Rush Propst on Wednesday.

Rush Propst called an audible, leaving Coosa Christian, where he had been since January, to take over the football program at Pell City High.

Rush Propst, who turned Hoover High football into a nationally known program, hasn't coached n Alabama since resigning under pressure in 2007.

Rush Propst has not coached an Alabama high school since turning Hoover into the state's program from 1999 to 2007
