The South Baldwin Regional Medical Center is now Baldwin Health Hospital.
Loxley Mayor Richard Teal said he is disappointed after the Certificate of Need (CON) Review Board denied South Baldwin Regional Medical Center’s plans for a freestanding emergency department in the city. However, he said the fight for the people is not over.
The case was contested in June 2023 and still has not been resolved. Meanwhile, people in the rural areas surrounding Loxley have few health care options.

The Foley City Council approved a second amendment to the 1999 agreement with the Baldwin County Bridge Company. The council also made the city’s medical district overlay official.
The South Baldwin Regional Medical Center is expanding, and as the unofficial medical district in the city grows, officials are planning ahead.
