
During an interview with Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5's "The Jeff Poor Show," State Sen. Greg Albritton (R-Range) discussed potential changes to Alabama's Simplified Sellers Use Tax (SSUT).

The Cities of Tuscaloosa, Montgomery and Hoover announced on Wednesday that they were voluntarily dropping the suit.

In a special-called meeting on Monday, the Decatur City Council voted in favor of a resolution backing a statewide lawsuit arguing for changes to Alabama's current simplified sellers use tax (SSUT).

Monday the City of Hoover joined a growing coalition of Alabama cities in a federal lawsuit challenging the Alabama Department of Revenue’s administration of the Simplified Sellers Use Tax (SSUT).

On Friday, the Marshall County Commission approved a resolution to intervene in a lawsuit against the Alabama Department of Revenue initiated by the City of Tuscaloosa over the state’s Simplified Sellers Use Tax.

“AEA will be involved in the lawsuit to secure tax revenue for the ETF,” the organization's legal team said.

Having served as county commissioner in one of the state’s larger counties, and a current commissioner in a smaller, struggling, Black Belt county, it is my belief that there is a fundamental misunderstanding of the SSUT system.
