Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission chairman Dr. Steven Stokes is resigning about a week after a lawsuit questioned whether he was legally allowed to serve simultaneously on both the commission and the University of South Alabama board of trustees.
The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission adopted rules and regulations for the new Alabama medical marijuana industry at the Commission's August meeting.
The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission met on Thursday. Items discussed included new rules to govern the industry as well as presentations from Louisiana and Ohio officials on how those states dispense their medical marijuana. There will be a public hearing on the proposed rules on July 14.
