Tuesday, suspended Jefferson County Probate Judge Yashiba Blanchard was on the other side of the bench for the first hearing on the 7 ethics charges she faces before the Alabama Court of the Judiciary. 

During the height of the 2026 primary elections, residents of Jefferson County began receiving curious, oversized mail pieces featuring images of Judge Yashiba Blanchard; those mailers were a part of a million-dollar spending spree.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested James Dozier, the bailiff for suspended Judge Yashiba Blanchard, for impersonating a peace officer.
