The Fred & Rheta Skelton Center for Cultural Renewal aims to do just what its name implies: renew the culture.
A culture war is just as serious as a traditional war, even more so in many cases. There is no neutral in this fight, it’s a total war for the very soul of our nation.
Religion – particularly Christianity – is at the core of society because it puts us in right relationship with God. And when we’re in right relationship with God, everything else falls into place, namely, our relationships with family, work, community, and government.
The new power brokers – online influencers – are subject to the same temptations toward ratings, money grabs, and surrender to ideology to which mainstream media yielded.
According to Aristotle’s ethical framework, there are virtues that should guide a person’s actions, even an action that many consider morally neutral like choosing a friend.

Are the results we want produced not by giving into our children’s demands, but by gently and firmly leading them in paths that time and experience have taught us are wise ways?

Studies have shown that talking to ourselves can be tremendously beneficial.
There’s a moment, familiar to anyone who has spent any time on social media, when the endless scrolling stops feeling like leisure and more like labor. The feed never ends. Neither does the unease.

Courage helps us confront the discomfort of interior quiet. Rather than wasting away our lives watching another video on another corrupt leader, courage can give us the strength to endure daily difficulties and discover the joy of life that comes when we let go of the need for certainty.
When we avoid discussing awkward, painful topics, we not only do our grieving friends a disservice, but we also miss out on a chance to build community.

Putting prayer and study into practice should help us become better human beings, never perfected but always aiming toward the perfection found in Christ.
What is a trad wife? Is she necessarily a stay-at-home mom? And can she pull in an income too?
The problem with our elites today is that many have abandoned the Western tradition. Instead, they study figures who scorn the very foundations of American common life. In fact, many of today’s politicians are brilliant managers of power because that’s all they believe in. They do not know the first thing about aiming that power at the good, the true, and the beautiful.

Classical philosophy sees God as producing existence while creatures like us participate in existence.
Cursive gives children a chance to express themselves but does so in a way that may actually prosper their future without risking lasting pain.

Call me a prude, a prig, a Puritan – I don’t care, but I’m dead-set against foul language and profanity. So bring back that old-fashioned bar of soap because we’ve got some mouth cleaning to do.
The reality of Christ’s Resurrection suffuses all of creation (include human sub-creations, like art) with light and directionality. And that direction is out of the tomb.
We fight injustice by being present to our own communities instead of hitting the bell for more notifications.

Many today still believe the impossible actually happened: a Savior of mankind rose from the dead, conquering the grave. And that is why they celebrate Easter.
Dressing up for church can signal pomposity, yet it can also signal respect for the worship service, the men who lead it, and the people who one worships alongside. That certainly isn’t a bad thing, even if it is admittedly not enough.
An example of where the biblical text, archeology, and historical sources all coalesce is the place called Gabbatha, or the stone pavement, where Jesus was tried by Pontius Pilate on that Friday 2,000 years ago.
This Eastertide, if you feel locked in that tomb, try knocking and see if the stone rolls away. Joy can be yours if you seek it.
Regardless of whether or not the "Messiah" is performed at Easter or Christmas, it’s evident that the oratorio is a great work explaining one of the most famous cornerstones of Western civilization.
