Deputies with the Etowah County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) seized 108 machines and over $13,000 from five gambling halls in the area on Thursday.

The promotion of gambling and possession of a gambling device are illegal in Alabama.

ESCO obtained multiple search warrants after they received complaints about makeshift gambling halls.

Some of the halls were located in Gadsden and Alabama City. The Sheriff's office and the district attorney had already issued cease-and-desist orders for three of them, which allotted them two days to remove the machines from the state of Alabama.

Instead of complying with the order, the three halls moved the machines to new buildings in the county.

No one was present when the search warrants were executed, and no arrests have been made so far in this investigation, which is ongoing.
