The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is investigating a double-fatal crash in north Alabama.

The wreck happened on Monday, May 2, around 6 p.m.

Troopers said a 2015 Volvo XC60 left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire on Alabama 40. The driver and a passenger were pronounced dead on the scene, which was approximately four miles south of Pisgah in Jackson County.

The bodies were sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for identification.
