Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama is asking for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for a May 23 shooting death. The organization is offering up to $20,000 in the case.

David Westbrook was shot and killed at approximately 10:51 p.m. while backing out of a parking space at 135 54th Street North in Birmingham. Police said Westbrook had just walked his dog at a nearby soccer field and was attempting to leave.

The shooter was described as a male wearing dark track pants with a white stripe down the leg and a gray hooded sweatshirt with a light-colored design on the chest.

Westbrook, 50, was a research scientist at UAB's Christian Faul lab.
