Lucas Spencer Holton was fatally injured Wednesday when his car collided head-on with a military fuel tanker.

Holton was 21 years old and from Altoona. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Twenty-six-year-old Charles Stephens was driving the 1991 HEMTT military fuel tanker when he collided with Holton at 11:55 a.m. on U.S. 278 west of Holly Pond in Cullman County. Stephens is from Deatsville and was traveling with a passenger. Neither were injured.

According to senior trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Holton was not using his seatbelt.

Troopers from ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the crash.
