The presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will be a close one, according to U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville).

Aderholt told reporters after attending the AUKUS Industry Forum at the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Monday that Trump has the momentum in the race.

"Obviously, I do think that this will be a very close election. We see a lot of the polls right now where they're going from a point one candidate. Harris may be a point or two ahead once and then a point or two ahead for Trump. It goes back and forth. The national polls are fluctuating. Really, the polls, I think it's going to come down to about six states, and there are six states that are going to make the difference. Really, what I'm doing is watching states like Pennsylvania, Arizona, North Carolina, and Georgia. Those states will be the states that really make a difference and to tell us who the next president will be. And especially Pennsylvania, I think all eyes will be on Pennsylvania over the next coming days. I think Trump, at this point, has the momentum. I think he's going into this election where you want to be at that point before an election. You don't want to peak too early. It seems like he's peaking just about the right time, so I think things are really good for the Trump campaign right now," Aderholt said.

Election Day is November 5.
