The Alabama Environmental Management Commission voted to narrow its search for a new Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) director on Friday.
Commission chairman Frank McFadden said during a Friday meeting, “We had a lot of good discussion on the list of candidates and it was felt that we could shortlist candidates today.”
“We had some good candidates. We’re going to have a short list of candidates who will come back to us in June,” he added.
The finalists for the job are Anthony Scott Hughes, David Perry, Edward Poulos and James Mike Thornton.
ADEM director Lance LeFleur announced he would retire in December, effective May 1. LeFleur has been the director of ADEM since May 2010.
