The Alabama Farmers Federation has endorsed Tuscumbia Mayor Kerry “Bubba” Underwood for Alabama House District 3, which includes portions of Colbert and Lauderdale counties. The seat is being vacated by Rep. Andrew Sorrell (R). Sorrell is running for State Auditor.

Underwood recently kicked off his campaign for HD3.

“At the onset of this new journey, I am motivated by the good people I live with to see others and to work to benefit them,” said Underwood. “This corner of the state is a special place filled with special people. I am reminded of something President Reagan said that will pattern my legislative service:

“We are blessed with the opportunity to stand for something - for liberty and freedom and fairness - and these are things worth fighting for, worth devoting our lives to” (President Ronald W. Reagan).”

“Bubba Underwood has the experience to be a leader in the House of Representatives,” said Luther Bishop, Colbert County Farmers Federation president. “He has an extensive knowledge of how local government works, and he can expand that into state government to best represent us.”

Underwood is mayor of Tuscumbia and is a small business owner. He participates in various civic and charitable causes in his community.

“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of this district’s farmers,” Underwood said. “I will work hard to represent them and all the constituents of this district well in Montgomery.”

Underwood has also been endorsed by the Medical Association of the State of Alabama.

“This week I am blessed to receive the endorsement of the Medical Association of Alabama for my bid for State House District 3,” Underwood said. “This hard-working group of men and women are the best in the world providing both lifesaving and life-improving services to our community. Thank you to those in the medical profession for all you do and for your support of my campaign.”

The Republican primary is on May 24, 2022.
