Faith in God is playing a significant role for the Alabama football team as it heads into the upcoming season.
Earlier this summer, wide receiver Germie Bernard expressed how God plays a pivotal role in his life on and off the field. During an interview with "The Next Round," he discussed his relationship with God and how he prays each week that he can lead others to Him.
During SEC Media Days on Wednesday, another Alabama player spoke up about his relationship with God. Defensive lineman Tim Keenan III discussed the team focusing their mindset on their faith in God and trusting in Him as they enter the upcoming season, which he has dedicated to God.
"We dedicate this season to God," Keenan said. "We give it to God. We're living for him and we know that it starts with him. So if it starts with him and we get in alignment with God, everything else will fall into place. So that's what the biggest focus has been. Because once you see a lot of God around, you see a lot of hard working around. Being a believer and a follower of God, you know that you're serving and that God gives it to the man that works or the woman that works, the person that works. So if you're doing a lot of work, you're going to reap some benefits. You're sowing a good seed and you're going to get a good harvest."
In an age where athletes now get paid thousands of dollars to play football, most 18-21-year-olds would blow their money on expensive cars and other pointless spending, but not Keenan. When asked in an interview with "The Next Round" what is something fun he has used his NIL money for, he responded, "Donate to church."
In addition to giving back to his church, Keenan also spends some of his free time off the field to speak at churches.
"I got an event on the 28th in Tuscaloosa. I go speak to a church," Keenan said. "But, you know, I just go just to be as humble as possible, be a servant. And, you know, I know the type of status that I have and guys and people look at me as like a, you know, celebrity or whatever. So if they're looking at me and kind of idolizing me, I'm showing them who I idolize. And that's, you know, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. So people start following because people going to gravitate to whatever is cool or whatever they seem like is a positive thing. And I'm going to make sure I glorify, you know, God."
